Anti-Aging and Wellness Services

Did you know that your birth date age and your body’s “actual” age could be entirely different? The real age test examines everyday aging challenges such as back, joint and muscle pain, bone density, stamina, skin, libido in both men and women, and core balance. Administering a stress test and examining oxygen levels is also part of it. The Dallas Metabolic Institute team connects with each patient, establishing trust, a personal bond, and encouraging dialogue that cultivates successful, ongoing, healthy aging results.

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, or BHRT helps men and women of all ages suffering from hormonal imbalances.  Several conditions related to hormonal imbalances can be alleviated with bio-identical hormones, and countless individuals have regained vitality and health with the use of BHRT.  BHRT benefits conditions such as:

Andropause is a phase of life during which males experience age related hormone decline. Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone, and when testosterone decreases, symptoms such as hair loss, weight gain, muscle atrophy, insomnia, low libido, and erectile dysfunction may occur.

Perimenopause or Menopause

Perimenopause occurs when female hormones begin to decline, and symptoms such as weight gain, acne, irregular periods, heavy periods, and irritability may appear.  Menopause happens when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 months, and a woman may begin to experiences symptoms of insomnia, weight gain, low libido, vaginal dryness, and dry skin.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome occurs in women during the reproductive years and may cause symptoms such as weight gain, unwanted body hair, acne, irregular periods, infertility, and fluid filled sacs around the ovaries.

Adrenal Fatigue

When the adrenal glands produce too much cortisol in response to stress, the adrenal glands can burn out and cause a constant feeling of fatigue, heavy limbs, headaches, and lethargy.

Thyroid Disorders

Hyperthyroid and Hypothyroid can both result from an imbalance of thyroid hormone. The thyroid gland plays a role in metabolism, and symptoms such as weight gain, heavy periods, hair loss, anxiety, and mood swings can result from an imbalance of thyroid hormone.

BHRT can help these conditions by eliminating or improving their related symptoms.

As with healthy aging, the sports nutrition component begins with a full day comprehensive performance/physical fitness exam/screening for each patient. Each patient will experience muscle strength testing as well as maximum treadmill exercise testing to determine the accurate optimum heart rate during exercise. Functional sports nutrition and athletic performance testing come together in this comprehensive approach. Athletes will learn about and experience maximizing the body’s metabolic capabilities to produce energy further optimizing endurance, performance and intensity. The Dallas team coaches athletes at all levels on rebalancing: living a vibrant life through proper nutrition and exercise.

Athletic Performance Evaluation (Ape)

We specialize in metabolic and nutritional needs of both professional and amateur athletes, optimizing health and athletic performance with an integrative approach that utilizes the best therapies that functional and internal medicine has to offer.

We have in depth experience with diagnosing and treatment of immune dysfunction, fatigue and adrenal stress, high inflammatory state, hormone imbalances, and gut dysfunction in athletes.

The latest technology is available in our practice to assess an athlete’s performance and determine whether they are overreaching or overtraining, allowing us to determine optimal training programs.

Comprehensive History, Physical & Lab-Testing Includes:

Complete blood count, hematocrit/hemoglobin, cholesterol, electrolytes, liver function, kidney function.

Stress Markers (exercised induced) ~ cardio CRP

Nutritional Assessment of Current Intake ~ vitamins, minerals, micro and macronutrients, energy intake.

Nutritional Deficiencies Evaluation of Absorption and Consumption of Key Nutrients Required for Peak Performance ~ which includes key vitamins and minerals to maximize cellular performance and therefore the athlete’s performance.

Amino Acid Profile ~ determines if appropriate amounts of protein and amino acids are consumed on a daily basis.

Essential Fatty Acid Test ~ Omega 3 fatty acids

Mitochondrial Function Assessment ~ tests how efficient the energy is being produced to obtain peak performance.

Key Energy Optimizer Levels ~ CoQ10, alpha lipoic levels, riboflavin, biotin, B12, magnesium, zinc.

Detox Assessment ~ determines the current ability of the body to clear common toxins absorbed by the body on a daily basis.

Oxidative Stress Evaluation ~ The highly balanced athlete’s body produces excessive amounts of oxidative radicals, which can over time damage cells, DNA and chromosomes, raising risk of heart disease, hardening of the arteries and even certain cancers. This test allows us to assess how efficient the body’s natural defenses neutralize superoxide radicals and, in addition, determines if there are adequate anti-oxidants being consumed.

Heavy Metals and Toxicity Screen ~ determines the body’s levels and identifies whether they are elevated. Elevated stages can interfere with normal cellular function blocking the body’s ability to perform at peak levels.

Muscle Strength Testing includes strength testing of major muscle groups based on one rep maximum.

Core Strength and Flexibility Testing

Exercise Treadmill Testing consists of two levels of testing:

  • Maximal heart rate stress screens for heart rate, workout zones, and future health risks based on performance level;
  • Fitness test determines anaerobic threshold (AT) maximal level of oxygen consumption (VO2 Max)

Nutritional Recommendations

Personalized Core Nutrition Plan outlining Macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats)

Exercise Recommendations

Strength and Aerobic Guidelines based on APE results.

  • We are also well-versed in World Anti-doping Agency, (WADA) US Anti-doping Agency (USADA) and National Anti-doping Agency (NADO) Guidelines.
  • Personalized Nutriceutical Supplementation Plan based on any deficiencies, as well as type and intensity of exercise training.

A successful weight loss program begins with two things: Eating well and being active. Our team’s approach to patients who desire a successful weight loss program is done by way of a nutritional assessment and precise intervention; identifying a patient’s ideal weight based on daily lifestyle and activities, BMI, coaching and recognizing how to effect change in their life.
